Beveridge & Diamond, P.C. represented the Town of Hempstead, located in New York State, in various aspects of closing a large municipal landfill and converting the landfill site into a park and nature preserve. In addition to assisting the town with government approvals, the firm represented the town in a construction contract dispute that occurred during the project.
Beveridge & Diamond successfully convinced the contractor to continue construction through completion and to resolve the remaining legal issues after dedication of the park. The park was opened to the public on time, and now provides town residents with a public fishing pier, extensive hiking trails, restored wetland habitat, and a boat launch area for kayaks and other recreational watercraft.
